I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and the best in the New Year. I think I have finally reached the point that I can relax a bit before the holiday! Our oldest daughter and grandson will be arriving on Monday and I think I am ready!

After the holidays, I will be sharing handmade cards that I received. For now, I would like to share an anniversary card that I made for our friends. They celebrated 42 years earlier in the month.
This was made using retired Copper cardstock and the retired set Asian Artistry. It's simple but elegant, I think. Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget about the Weekly Deals that can be found here.

Happy Birthday

Today, I'm going to share a couple of birthday cards. I have 2 grandsons with birthdays in December. They are at the age (12 & 13) where 'kid' cards are not appreciated and yet, they aren't old enough for the 'manly' cards of an adult. So, I pulled out Gorgeous Grunge. I didn't think I liked this set when I received it at convention, but, found it's perfect for those male 'tween' cards. I also used some tags from the Tag a Bag accessories kit.
The one on the left uses Gumball Green and Smoky Slate, the on the right is Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate. You can't really see it, but the one on the right was also embossed with the Stripes embossing folder. Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Stamping!

Have Yourself a Merry

These are the cards that we did at my Christmas card class last weekend. I just love the card kits! Makes my life so much easier with everything included (except the adhesive) and already cut!
This one uses the directions directly in the kit.
This one is 'stepped up' a bit.
Our Christmas card Shoebox swap was supposed to be held today, but Mother Nature had a different idea. We got some more snow last night into this morning. But, this is the card I was going to share. It also uses kit pieces along with other items.
I hope these have inspired you in a small way to get crackin' on your Holiday cards, if you haven't already. Check back on Tuesday to see what's new with Stampin' Up! Happy Stamping!

FALL....or is it Winter?

Even though the ground outside my window is covered with the 'white stuff', I wanted to share with you the banner I finally finished yesterday for FALL. It was inspired by a banner made by Rose Castillo and shared on our demonstrator sample site.
I used Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Early Espresso inks. Also used some retired buttons and ribbon. The leaves were die cut (from a Sizzix die I had in my stash)and sponged. With the white stuff on the ground, guess I should get busy and get my Winter/Holiday banner completed!

Here are a few cards I've been working on for birthdays. Now that this one has finally arrived at it's destination, I can share with you. This was made for my 'bestest friend'. She loves the color combo of pink and black, so I used Melon Mambo and the Modern Medley DSP. Added a little bling with the Silver Glimmer Paper. This was made using the Label Thinlits Card Dies and used Dawn Oleshefke's video on YouTube to make an extended card, so I could add the inside sentiment.

This card is a male birthday card I made for a friend of ours who just moved to Texas. I used Early Espresso, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla and Old Olive cardstock. The ribbon is retired. I also used the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.
Thanks for stopping by today. Check back soon. Until then....HAPPY STAMPING!

Shoebox Swap

Last Saturday I hosted another shoebox swap with my new stampin' friends. This time I asked them to use specific colors. Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry (taken from the Color Coach). Knowing that not all had those colors, I asked them to come close. Here are the results...amazing, I think!
Mary Lou's creation

Jeri's creation

Sheri's creation

Hope these provide you with some inspiration and to think of new and different color combos for your creations.

Stepped Up Christmas Cards

Finally was able to get the 'stepped up' Christmas cards completed for my class. The originals can be seen in this post.
For this card, I stamped the trees from the Pennant Parade stamp set before punching them out. I embossed the Early Espresso layer with the Woodgrain EF. Added a bit of Baked Brown Sugar stretch ribbon. I also added all those pearls! (that took the longest, but it makes the trees, I think). Then added the bling to each side of the sentiment. Both the pearls and the bling were colored with Sharpies.
For this card, I silver embossed the ornaments from the retired set Delightful Decorations and the sentiment from Tags 4 You, added the Sharpie colored rhinestones and the new silver ribbon.
This card is VERY SPARKLY in real life. I added the Silver Glimmer paper layer, then used the next to the smallest Festive Flurry snowflake (in Island Indigo) cut it with the framelits, layered it to the next largest framelit cut from the glimmer paper and finally the next largest framelit in Island Indigo. Again, I layered the silver ribbon behind the glimmer snowflake.

Thanks for stopping by today. Check back soon to see what else I've been working on.

Happy Birthday

As you can see, I didn't get the 'experienced' Christmas cards for my class finished over the weekend. I had several birthday cards that I needed to make for friends who will have birthdays while I'm traveling next month. Today, I will share those with you.
This card is for my hubby's oldest friend. They've been friends since high school. I used some old and some new on this one. The card base is Soft Suede, the 'splatters' from Gorgeous Grunge are in Early Espresso, the Happy Birthday is from Remembering your birthday. The trees are from my 'old standby' Lovely as a Tree (I hope that never retires). The deer is from the retired Nature's Silhouettes. The die is a retired one called Oval Frame.
This card is so 'cheery', I think. The base is Primrose Petals, as are the candles. The DSP (from Print Poetry) is layered on both Primrose and Summer Starfruit. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. This is another card inspired from my upline Maureen. You can see hers here.

I 'cheated' a little for this card. This is a 'cheery' card front that I received as a swap at convention. There was no contact info on it (so if this is yours, let me know and I'll definitely give proper credit). I just mounted this lovely card front onto Strawberry Slush card base.
This card is a mix of SU! and non-SU! products. The roses are from a retired set Roses in Winter and are stamped in Blushing Bride and Primrose Petals. The Large Scallop Die is the Scallop Circle (still current), the one with the roses is from the Scallop Circles die that is retired. You can't see it well in this photo, but I ran the Large scallop (Pear Pizzaz) through an embossing folder in my stash. The pink layer is some Moire Fabric Paper from my stash, as is the embossed Happy Birthday. I then added the Whisper White Organza ribbon and some 'bling' from my stash. (I could have colored our Rhinestones, but these were the perfect color).

Thanks for stopping by today and I promise to have those 'stepped up' Christmas cards posted soon.
Happy Stamping.

Beginner Christmas Card Class

I have the opportunity to hold my classes at the local community center for a great price! So, I have decided to do two Christmas card classes. One for beginners and one for those who are more experienced. These classes will be in October at the Blanchard Community Center (if there's anyone in the area that would like to attend).

These are the cards I came up with for the Beginner Class.
This card uses the new Festive Flurry Bundle. The card base is Island Indigo, the next layer is Smoky Slate and then I did a quick stamp of the snowflakes in Island Indigo, Burmuda Bay and Coastal Cabana. The focal snowflake is in Smoky Slate layered onto Island Indigo with some silver ribbon and Basic Rhinestone in the middle.
This card was inspired by one my upline Maureen Rauchfuss did. Her's can be seen here. Thanks, Maureen for the inspiration. This uses Crumb Cake as the base and the layer with the sentiment (from Petite Pairs). The next layer is Cherry Cobbler. The trees are punched with the Petite Pennant Punch in Gumball Green and there are Basic Rhinestones as the tree toppers.
This card uses the retired Ornament Punch and Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper. The ornaments are tied with Real Red 1/8 inch ribbon. Card base is Whisper White, next layer is Gumball Green. The sentiment is from the stamp set Tags 4 You. It is layered on a Whisper White piece punched with the 2 3/8 inch Scallop Punch.

Thanks for stopping by today. Stop back by tomorrow and I should have the Experienced Cards completed. Happy Stamping!

Monday, August 12, 2013

So, I had my 'shoebox swap' ladies over on Saturday and I tried an experiment that has been running around in my head. We played a game of Stamped (think the Food Network show Chopped). I gave them Naturals White card stock, a layer of Gingham Designer Series Paper and the stamp set Kind and Cozy (that was their basket). I also had all of my markers and ink pads available, as well as Basic Pearls, Basic Rhinestones, glue dots, dimensionals and some ribbon (that was the pantry & fridge). I gave them 15 minutes to create something. These are the cards they came up with. Pretty talented ladies, don't you agree?

This was Sue's creation
This was Mary Lou's creation
This was what I came up with
I think that I may try this as a little game at my next workshop. The girls really liked it! Thanks for stopping by today!

Birthday Cards

Here are a couple of birthday cards that I put together over the weekend for upcoming birthdays.
This one is for my granddaughter. She will be 20! Oh how the time flies! She's a 'girly-girl', so added the colored rhinestones from my stash. The card base is Naturals White, the next layer is Primrose Petals and the top layer is Blushing Bride. The Lattice Die was cut with Naturals White card stock. I then cut a 2-color Daisy from the retired Daisies #2 die. Finally added the 'bling'. The sentiment is from Remembering Your Birthday.
This one is for my grandson, he's going to be 11. Since that is such an awkward age, wasn't really sure what to do. But decided on the banners from Banner Greetings. It's not really clear from the picture, but I used (t to b) Soft Sky, Burmuda Bay, Basic Gray, Island Indigo & Pool Party for the banners. I used the Stripes Embossing Folder on the Night of Navy layer and it's all on a Naturals White card base. I attached the banners to the White Baker's Twine and the card with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today. Check back again soon to see what I've been working on.

Last of the Swaps from Convention

This is FINALLY the last of my Convention Swaps. I'm sure glad I didn't take more than 75! This could have taken the rest of the month!

These were the only Christmas cards that I received. I think because there were no Christmas stamps in the Annual Catalog.
L to R: Ann Nescot, Gail White
These were the 3 3-d items I received. The left one is a clothes pin with a magnet on the back, the middle one is a pin (the flower can be removed and clipped onto anything. The right one is a small bottle with candies in it.
L to R: Unknown, Leigh Nice, Unknown
These are some 'odd' sized cards I received.

L to R: Adele Yin, Donna Eckhart, Christy, Unknown
This is a beautiful picture frame. It even has an easel back~
Loty Castro
This is an AWESOME card that my down line received in an organized swap. I fell in love with it, so she 'gifted' it to me. Thanks, Diane. It was all done with My Digital Studio (except for the bling!)

Alana Jean-Louis
Thanks for stopping by and for looking at all my beautiful swaps from convention. If you'd like to join my team and go with me next year and get your own 'stash' of beautiful cards, let me know.
