Christmas Cookies

I hope this finds everyone ready for the man in the red suit. I am, so took some time to make some yummy cookies to leave out for him. I found this yummy recipe in our local paper and would like to share it with you.

Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups flour
                      1 tsp baking powder
                      1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
                      1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
                      1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
                      1/2 cup eggnog
                      1 1/2 tsp vanilla
                      2 egg yolks

Preparation:  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees
                        2. Mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl. Set aside
                        3. In another bowl, mix sugar and butter until creamed. Add eggnog, vanilla and  egg yolks, mix until smooth.
                        4. Add dry ingredients to creamed ingredients and mix until moist.
                        5. Place rounded teaspoons of cookie dough onto baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
                        6. Bake for 20 minutes or until bottoms are lightly browned.
                        7. Remove from baking sheet and let cool. Makes 3 dozen.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night. I'll be blogging again in the New Year.

Stunning Simplicity

Hi Everyone! It's not often that I 'borrow' pics from other blogs, but this card was so simply stunning that I had to share it! I was made by Beth Beard from Illinois. She is part of Mary Fish's group the Stampin' Pretty Pals. I just love the simplicity of it, yet it is so stunning!

Out of the Loop

First, I want to thank everyone who has sent their condolences for the loss of my mother. She passed peacefully on October 25. I just returned from Tucson on Saturday and am trying desperately to get back into the groove.

I have been out of the loop for so long, that I feel like I'll never catch up, especially with the holidays approaching. I do promise to take this week to try to catch up and to start posting again on a regular basis next week.

Stampin' Up! is not making things easy with all the new things going on. Please go to my website here or to the SU! customer site here to learn all the fun things that SU! has to offer.

Please stop by again beginning next week for more projects and more information about upcoming events. Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers! See you next week.

Radiator Springs - CASEing Heidi Lopez

These two cards were inspired by Heidi Lopez ( She has the whole crew posted on her blog, starting here. You can also visit her SCS gallery here for Lightning McQueen and here for Mater. Heidi was kind enough to send me the Mater and Lightning Juicy Juice box fronts for me to make these cards.  Thanks again Heidi for your inspiration AND your generosity!
I used Real Red for the card base and Basic Black for the Chevron Embossed layer. Then added some silver (yep, they really are silver in real life) brads.
The card base for this one is Gumball Green, the next layer is Marina Mist. I then used Crumb Cake for the Chevron Embossed layer. After it was embossed I ran my Cajun Craze stamp pad over it to sort of emulate Mater's rust. Happy Birthday is from Bring on the Cake.

Fall Colors

Here's a couple of cards I did for a color challenge on FB. We were to use More Mustard, Cajun Craze and Riding Hood Red. Hope you enjoy them.
The card on the left uses Dawn Olchefske's faux frame technique. You can find her tutorial on her blog here. It's a fun technique and I'm finding myself using it a lot. The card on the right used the brayer technique on glossy card stock. Thanks for coming by today.

Starfruit Birthday

Today, I can share another birthday card that I made. I have to admit, Summer Starfruit was not my favorite of the In Colors. But, the more samples I see with it, it is starting to make it's way into some of my projects. I especially like it paired with Midnight Muse.
I used the Labels Framelits in two sized to make the frame around the saying (from Apothecary Art). The flower is made from Scallop Circle punches and held together with a Glimmer Brad with the edges sponged in Midnight Muse. The ribbon is Midnight Muse (I got free during the Back to Spool special last month). Thanks for stopping by today. Stop by again in a few days and I'll have another birthday card to share with you.

    Birthday Cards

I have been working on several birthday cards over the last week. I'm going to share a couple of them today, but the others I can't share, yet.
This one is for our Great-Grandson who will be turning 1 in a couple of weeks. The base card is Real Red, the Basic Gray layer is embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder. I cut up the invitation to get the Lightning McQueen image (didn't like the clip art images I found online and I'm not as talented as some demos who have created Lightning with punches!). I added the scalloped oval punch and the verse from Petite Pairs.
This card is for my hubby's aunt who is celebrating her 90th birthday in November. This is a hybrid card. I started with the Happy Birthday Designer kit image, changed some of the colors and added the Timeless Type punches and paper filled to match the blue in the image. Once it was printed, I added some glimmer brads and some ribbon, adhered the MDS layer to Midnight Muse layer and adhered it all to Certainly Celery card stock base.

Thanks for stopping by today...I'll be posting a couple more in a few days.

Isn't she just the cutest? But, Gramma isn't too prejudiced! Thanks for letting me brag.

    Shoebox Swap

So, today I hosted a shoebox swap. The attendees were a couple of current demos I met online, one former demo and a good friend who lives in Spokane. We had so much fun stamping and chatting and getting to know one another.
These are the little gifts that I made for everyone who attended.

These are the cards I made for the swap.
These are Dawn's cards. The picture taking leaves a lot to be desired, but loved the cards!
These are Marilyn's cards (she chose to do hybrid cards, aren't they cute?)
These are Mary's cards. She did the brayered embossing folder on the Christmas one.
These are Sue's cards (as you can see, I didn't quite get the entire stamp inked!)
Aren't they wonderful? These ladies really made my day! It's been a long time since I've done any stamping with 'buds', so this was a true treat for me. I hope the others had a great time, too!

    First Holiday Card Class

These are the 3 cards that we're making at my first Holiday Card Class.
This one is pretty much a CASE of the one on page 7 of the Holiday Catalog. I used the Holiday Frame embossing folder, Joyous Celebrations stamp set and Bitty Banners Framelits. Card base is Gumball Green with the scalloped layer being Cherry Cobbler and the Whisper White wreath layer.
This one uses the Scentsational Bundle (stamp set and framelits). Don't you just love this cute little Gingerbread Man? And he smells good too, because I used the Sugar & Spice scented embossing powder. I also used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, a piece of Be of Good Cheer DSP and finally added some Early Espresso Dotted Scallop ribbon. The card base is Gumball Green.
This one also uses the Scentsational Bundle. The card base is Cherry Cobber, with Early Espresso layer and a piece of Be of Good Cheer DSP. Then added the Cherry Cobbler Dotted Scallop ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope that you are all in the Holiday crafting mood, now!

Fall is in the Air - Holiday Time

Well, fall is definitely in the air in Northern Idaho. Got down to about 35 degrees overnight! But, the days are still lovely, in the low 80's. Since it's getting to be that time of the year, thought I would share some Holiday projects I've been working on.

First, I wanted to try to imitate the ornaments on the front cover of the Holiday Mini Catalog.
I didn't purchase the Ornament Keepsake Bundle, but I did have the Delightful Decorations stamp set and the Ornament Punch from the 2012-2013 Catalog, so I used those. I also used Gumball Green and Cherry Cobbler ink, the new Cherry Cobbler Tulle Ribbon and a piece of Snow Festival DSP for the rosette. I also didn't have the new Faceted buttons (they're on order but haven't arrived), so I used a button from my stash and added the Basic Pearl to the center.
For this ornament I used some retired DSP (Holly Berry Bouquet Specialty). I used the 'sparkly' sheets for the stripe and polka dot layers. I used another sheet for the rosette. For this ornament I just punched, using the Ornament punch and the Blossom Petals Punch. Again, used a button from my stash and a Basic Pearl. I have to say, just punching and gluing went a lot faster than stamping, punching and gluing. Hubby likes the first one and I like the second one better. What do you think?
Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow, I'll have samples from my first Christmas Card Class.

A lot to like about August

WOW! is there a lot going on this month at  Stampin' Up! First and foremost the beautiful new Holiday Mini catalog went live on August 1. Check it out here if you haven't already seen it.
Then there is the new MDS2! I have downloaded the free trial and am having fun with it. (and you can, too by going to my online store and entering item number 130910 on your order. I have to tell you that the enhancements made to the software (over 75 in all) are terrific.
Some of the most exciting enhancements, I think, are the ability to use multiple colors on your stamp images, the ability to round corners on photos and layers, the ability to change the color of both embellishments and Designer Series Paper, and adding text to a punched shape. If you'd like to try before you buy, go to my online store and enter item #130910 on your order for the free 30-day trial. For more info and pricing go here. See how excited she is that this new version has finally been released????? To go along with that SU! has the 31 Days of Savings on some digital printing and digital downloads. You can see what's on sale here.
Finally, is the Spooktacular Sign Up Kit that you receive FREE with your Starter Kit if you join my team during the month of August! So, not only you do get over $125 of customizable product for only $99, you also get this great kit for FREE that you can use as a sample at your workshops to help promote your new business. If you'd like to join my team, go here.

Thanks for stopping by today to see all the wonderful happenings at Stampin' Up! And, don't forget about the contest I have going on this month. For all the details, go to this post.

    CAS Thank You

We had an Open House for our neighbors last Friday to introduce ourselves. All we wanted was some conversation and to learn a little about our new neighbors. Not a single one came empty handed! So, today I sat down and created this Clean & Simple Thank You to send to them for their generosity.
Supplies used are Whisper White and Marina Mist card stock. Black Staz-On ink, Marina Mist 1/8" ribbon, Labels Framelits, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Basic Pearls for the center of the flowers and the stamp set Easy Events. I think that is a new favorite of mine because you can do something CAS or you can embellish to your hearts content. Thanks for stopping by today and don't forget about the contest in the previous post.

    Happy Birthday from the 'Sticks'

I have several birthday's to acknowledge this month, so I've been trying to get those cards finished. Here is what I have so far. These first two use my favorite set for male cards: Lovely as a Tree. I also used the new Woodgrain embossing folder that will be available in the Holiday Mini catalog on Aug. 1, along with Itty Bitty Banners and the Bitty Banners framelits. I used the retired Stampin' Pastels to color. Card stock is Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Very Vanilla.

This card is for my beautiful daughter in law. It uses the Apothecary Art stamp set, the Labels Framelits, some Basic Rhinestones (cuz she loves bling), the Adorning Accents Edgelits and Adorning Accents embossing folders. Card stock is Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White. I colored the stamp with ink and a blender pen. The ribbon is from my stash (again because of the bling).
I can't say who this card is for, but I sure hope they like it when it arrives. I used the set Easy Events. The cupcake cherry is a Basic Pearl that was colored with a Cherry Cobbler marker. The ribbon is the Victoria Crochet Trim. I used the Window Frames Framelits (again from the Holiday Mini available Aug. 1). You can't see in the pic, but I also used the new Piercing Mat and the Festive Piercing Pack (from the Holiday Mini) to pierce around the Window. Card stock is Pacific Point and Very Vanilla. The DSP layer is from a retired pack called Maine Blueberry.
Thanks for stopping by today. Hope these cards have inspired you in some small way.

We can eat like civilized people!

They finally (after 2 months) delivered our new dining table today. (Don't mind the tags, I was so excited, I took the pics before I removed the tags!). I love it and it will seat 8 and the leaf stores inside the table, so I don't have to find it closet room! Now, I have room to have stampers come and stamp with me!!! WOOHOO!
