Latest Home Update & Stampin' Up! News

I hope that everyone's holiday was wonderful and that you are all looking forward to the New Year. I know that we are, as the new house should be complete in another 4-6 weeks!! WOOHOO!!!!

Here are a few of the latest pix we received from the builder:
This is hubby's 'man cave'. We are planning to put a pool table in here.
This is the granite I selected for all the counter tops (this happens to be the guest bathroom upstairs.
This is the view of the kitchen from the dining area.
These are the cabinets we had made in lieu of a china cabinet.
The master shower, travertine and glass tiles.
The tub surround for the jacuzzi tub also travertine and glass tiles.
The master bath vanity.

As you can see there is no granite on the vanity in the master bath, The stone guys cut it incorrectly and have to recut. They cut for drop in sinks and we wanted the under mount. Guess if that's the only mistake in this process, we're pretty lucky!

Stampin' Up!'s Holiday Mini is quickly coming to an end, so be sure that you order those things that you 'need'. If the Stocking Builder Punch was one of those items, please note that it will NOT be carrying over to the next Idea Book & Catalog, so place your orders today!

If anyone would like to have a new Occasions Mini catalog, please contact me and I will make sure that you get one.

Again, thank you for following along with our 'dream' and for your friendship. Hope that 2012 brings you all that you ever hoped for!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

New Home Progress

Hubby and I just returned from checking on the progress of our new home. These are the pictures that I was able to get. Didn't get any interior pics as they were working on the inside.

This is the front entrance of our new home. The  beams make it look much larger than it really is, but it's going to be truly beautiful once the deck is installed!
This is the stone on the chimney. Our fireplace is huge and will be covered with this stone as well. It will have a raised hearth and I can't wait to see it completed.

This is a picture of what our fireplace mantle will look like. The stone in this picture is the same stone that will be on our fireplace.
This is the two car garage. Behind is a one car garage that will be hubby's shop. The windows above the garage are the game room.

Thanks for stopping by today and for all your good wishes on our new journey!

Update

Many of you have been asking how things have been going with Dennis' surgery and our move. Dennis is progressing well, undergoing pool therapy to get range of motion back in his shoulder. He's completed 2 of his 4-6 weeks of pool therapy. Once that is completed, he will be doing clinical therapy to regain strength in his shoulder and arm.

Our home in Idaho is under construction. The first floor should be framed as of yesterday. Awaiting some pics from the builders. They have promised to send pics periodically and I will share those as they come in. I have made most of the finish selections and am getting excited to see the finished product!

I am still offering my moving special (see previous post) through November 30. The new Holiday Mini will be posted on the SU website on Thursday and contains lots of fun, new products for all of your holiday crafting projects. Make sure that you check it out!

Thanks to all of you for asking about Dennis and our new adventure. Check back often to see if there are any new updates. Happy Stamping!

Moving Special!!!!!!!!!

As most of you know, we will be moving on July 29! It's a MAJOR move! We'll be moving to Idaho and our brand new home (well, not exactly......we'll be staying with our son for a few months until the new house is completed).

During this transition period for us personally and for me professionally, I am offering a 'special' (to try and keep my SU! demoship going). Here are the details:

For every $50 in orders placed through my website (www.calstamper.stampinup.net) between August 1 and November 30, (each order must be at least $50, you cannot combine orders to reach $50), you will receice a credit good for $5 towards your first order placed during the new year! If you place a $100 order, you will get a $10 credit, if you place a $150 order, not only do you get the Hostess Rewards, but you will also get a $15 credit. The credits are only redeemable through me (not through SU! or any other demo) and you will need to email or call your order in to me after January 1. I will keep a tally as to how much credit you have earned and will deduct that amount (after shipping & tax) from your order in the new year. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Goodbye, So Long, Farewell

There are only 13 days left in which to purchase 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! stamp sets before they are gone. To see the full list of those stamp sets that are retiring go here.

This is also going to be my 'swan song' for awhile. As I posted earlier, Hubby & I are moving to Northern Idaho. The appraisal came in on the house and we are now set to close escrow on July 29! As you might imagine, the entire month of July will probably be a whirlwind for me. Hubby is having shoulder replacement surgery on the 12th, the packers are coming on the 27th and the movers are coming on the 28th! (decided to have them pack everything as Hubby isn't going to be much help with that process, so we'll pay to have them do it! Besides, I had 26 years of 'stuff' to sort through, I sure didn't want to have to pack it all, too!).

If during the time that I am away from the blog, you wish to place an order with me, please go to my website here and click the 'shop now' button.

I will truly miss all the customers/friends that I have made here in SoCal! Any time any one is in Northern Idaho, I hope that you stop by and say hi or even stay for awhile. (I will post the new addy once the house is complete and we are actually living in it!).  I will try to post occasionally during the building process and let you all know the progress.

Thank you to all of those who have supported me over the last years and I'm hoping that you will continue to support me as well as the other CYRious Stampers in the coming years. For now, this will be my last post until after we move (we will temporarily be living with our son in Fresno). Thank you all again........and,  HAPPY STAMPING!

It's Official - Almost

For those of you who follow this blog, you know that hubby & I put our house on the market in anticipation of his retirement and our BIG move to Northern Idaho. I'm happy to report that we have accepted an offer on the house and pending the appraisal, will be leaving Simi Valley around the first week in August.

I have mixed emotions about leaving Simi, as this has been 'home' for me since 1965! (I know, I'm old). But, I am more than a little excited about the next chapter in our lives. We are building a new home in a small town called Blanchard, Idaho and will be leaving the 'rat-race' that is California behind. For 2 born and raised Californians, it will be an adjustment, but one we're looking forward to in our 'old age'. (Actually, neither of us is 60, yet and I've heard tell that 60 is the new 40. Boy, am I hoping that's true!).

For those who follow this blog or have only visited a time or two, thank you! I will attempt to keep posting during the transition, but at this point I can only say I'll try. I'm truly hoping to get some of the other CYRious Stampers to post, as well. Keep checking back and I'll try to keep you updated as we begin this new journey in our lives.

Happy Memorial Day

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

For those you have served, are serving and will serve this great nation....THANK YOU!!!! And, thank you to the families as well! 'They also serve, who only sit and wait.' So, THANK YOU, as I know that freedom isn't free.

A Fun CASE

This is a card I totally CASED from Karen Barber. I loved her card so much that I knew I had to make one and it came in handy as a 'thank you' for a dear friend. I used the Flower Fest stamp set from the Summer Mini.  This card also uses the Subtles Glitter Brads (Karen used Basic Pearls), She used So Saffron ribbon on hers and I used the Whisper White Organdy.  It also uses the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder. Colors used were Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Whisper White. Enjoy! And thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Graduation

This is for my granddaughter who is graduating High School next week. I used My Digital Studio Happy Graduate, printed on Whisper White card stock, then adhered that to a Pretty in Pink card base. Tied it with Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. Because it's for my 'girly girl' granddaughter, I had to add the 'bling' of the rhinestone as the dot on the 'i'. Thanks for stopping by today!

It's Really Happenin'

For those of you that know me, you know that my hubby is getting close to retiring (in a few months), so today we took the next step. We put our house on the market. It won't hit the MLS until the end of next month, but after 26 years, it's going to take me longer than that to clean out the 'clutter'!
If you're looking to buy in Simi, give our realtor a call. If you're not, keep your fingers crossed that in this market, we can get what we need to build our dream 'retirement home'!!! Thanks for stopping by today.

Best Friend Blogger Award

I received this award from my friend, Johann Ham in Delaware. What an honor. You can visit her blog here. She does amazing work! Hope you enjoy your visit.

I will pass this on to two of my 'virtual' stamping friends who also have awesome blogs: Christel Mellinger and Connie Collins. Thank you again, Jo!

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

Spring is Blossoming!

Finally, I'm going to post some cards that I made with the Spring is Blossoming promotion stamp set (Four Frames) and the Designer Series Paper (Paisley Petals). First, I want to show you the set and the paper in a better light than can be seen on the website.

This is the clear mount version of the Four Frames stamp set. As you can see, it lends itself to many sentiments, styles and occasions.
This is the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper. It, too lends itself to many occasions and styles.

Here are some of the cards that I made with these two items, which are available for purchase (with a minimum $20 purchase) through the end of the month. It is also available to hostesses FREE, with a $350 workshop. If you'd like to purchase or host a workshop, please contact one of us!
This card uses Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Whisper White card stock. I also used some retired twill in Old Olive, the scallop edge punch and Old Olive and Baja Breeze markers.
This card used my least favorite of the Designer Paper (so had to use it to see if it would grow on me). Once I ran it through the Petals a Plenty embossing folder, I liked it much better. The card stock base is Tangerine Tango. I also used River Rock card stock, a Tangerine Tango button and the lace.
This card uses Baja Breeze for the card base, an Old Olive layer and the Designer Series Paper run through the Square Lattice embossing folder. I used Night of Navy ribbon and buttons. The layer behind the frame is Old Olive.
This card base is Cherry Cobbler. I then attached some 5/8" Very Vanilla grosgrain to another piece of Cherry Cobbler to make the band. The frame and sentiment are stamped in Cherry Cobbler. All the sentiments for these cards are from the Hostess Set Silhouette Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by today and for your patience. I really intended these to be loaded a couple of weeks ago. Remember you can only get this Designer Series Paper and the Four Frames stamp set through April 30. These items will be available in the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog, but if you don't purchase them this month, you won't have another chance until July!

Here Comes the Bride

I know I promised samples with the new Four Frames stamp set and the Paisley Petals Designer Series paper, but I've been one busy mom. I'm making the wedding invitations for my son's wedding in June! I know, I know, they should be done by now and for the most part, they are. I'm just waiting for a couple of addresses from my future daughter-in-law and they'll be ready to hit the Post Office!

These are the gatefold invitations with the ribbon wrap. The card stock is non-SU!, she didn't like the browns that we had and she wanted linen card stock. The swirls are from Baroque Motifs and the P is from the Lovely Letters Alphabet. The ribbon is also non-SU! provided by the bride to be. The P is mounted inside the Very Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware label.

This is the invitation open. Again, the P from Lovely Letters (ironically, both of their last names start with P, so it was a no-brainer to use it!). The little swirl on either side of the P is from a retired set called Noteworthy. It was the perfect size for the little flap that is securing the vellum invitation. I also used the Scallop Trim punch.

These are the response cards, also printed on vellum and held in place with a retired punch, the Wrought Iron pocket punch. Thanks for stopping by today and I promise the samples using the Spring is Blossoming promotion will be uploaded soon! Check back often.

March CYRious Stamping Meeting

Last night was the March meeting of the CYRious Stampers. As always, it was a fun time. Our swaps this month were to be St. Patrick's Day cards using the Inlaid Embossing technique. As usual, the cards were great!
This was Pat's card. She used the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder, Tote-ally Tess, Cheers to You and Teeny Tiny Wishes for her card. Her Inlaid Embossing is on the heart with the shamrock. Great Job, Pat!

This was Diane's card. She also used Teeny Tiny Wishes, and inlaid her shamrocks in the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder. She added some of the Basic Pearls for added interest. Good Job, Diane!

This was my card...Simple Simon. I used the Full Heart Punch to make the shamrock that I Inlaid into the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I then used one of the buttons from the Springtime Vintage Designer Buttons in the Occasions Mini. I used the Afterthoughts Hostess Stamp Set for the wording.

This is the project that Diane brought to the meeting. She shared the new Distressing Essentials Kit. We used the Navy ink from the kit, the Newsprint Designer Series Paper and the stamp set Nature's Nest. We also used the sanding block and emery boards from the kit. I don't personally have this kit and so it was great to be able to try it out. Thanks Diane for a great project!

This isn't the greatest picture, but I taught the group how to make Valita's great roses out of the 2-step Owl Punch. The colors are Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip and Pear Pizzaz. (they were pieces I had leftover from my last workshop, so it worked out well). The leaves were punched from the Blossom Petal Punch. Birthday Wishes is from Occasional Quotes (a level III Hostess Set).

As you can see, even though our group is small, we have a lot of fun at our meetings and discuss many business ideas and try to help each other to grow our business. If you'd like to join our team before the end of Sale-a-Bration (and receive 15% off the Starter Kit along with the FREE $50 additional bundle), just contact one of us prior to March 31st. We'd love to have you join our team!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Some Personal Stuff

First I want to apologize for not posting for awhile...didn't realize it had been a month. That is mostly because I was out of town getting things started for our new home in Idaho. They say they will probably break ground in June. This is an exciting (and scary) time for us! I wanted to share a couple of pictures of what our property looked like when we were there in February.
As you can see, this is why they probably won't be breaking ground until June.
